Trek China Part B:Two-day Yellow Mountain Trek (Day 1)

Yellow Mountain, located within Huangshan City, Anhui Province, has a name far and wide for its rarely fascinating natural sceneries. Typically renowned for the four unique scenic features: picturesque rocks, legendary pines, the sea of clouds and hot springs, Yellow Mountain has been extolled as “the most spectacular mountain unparalleled elsewhere under heaven.”

Deeply attracted by its exotic aboriginal wild beauty, my friends and I, together with our overloaded rucksack set off on the dreamlike two-day trekking tour to the Yellow Mountain. Meticulously prepared for this advantageous but hectic trip leading to the unknown, we took with us the very fundamental necessities and equipments such as maps, watch, cell phone, appropriate rain gear and etc in case any unpredictable accidents happen. Then here came our unforgettable marvelous trip.

After our first arrival at Mercy Light Temple, our two-day Yellow Mountain Trek really began in real sense. In line with our prepared tour itinerary in advance, instead of taking advantage of the funicular to ascend, we made up our minds to climb up on foot. It was a long trudge up the hill. Before we made our first step, we took the necessary precautions in getting ready for the ascent. Armed with head and arm coverings, we head for our first destination: Jade Screen Pavilion. Sceneries like Stand Horse Bridge, Banshan Temple and etc along the winding road, I have to say though a bit in shade when comparing with the precipitous peaks ahead waiting for us to explore, these picturesque scenes exposed in front of our eyes make it possible for us to appreciate the grandeur and magnificence of Yellow Mountain timidly hidden from view. Regardless of our weariness resulted from our 3-hour pedestrian journey upward, all our hearts could not help stirring for finding in front of us standing erect the world-famous Welcoming Guest Pine. As embodiment of Yellow Mountain, the welcoming guest pine flings out her enthusiastic arms to welcome tourists both at home and abroad in the jubilant mood. Then we treaded our way straightly upward till we finally arrived at our next destination: Celestial Capital Peak. Known as one of the three main peaks presiding over Yellow Mountain, the celestial capital peak is overwhelmingly occupying there, rising steeply into the clouds. It is said that your trip to Yellow Mountain will not be regarded as worthwhile unless you lift yourself up all the way to the celestial capital peak. Surely it is.  It took us about 2 hours to get fro and back from jade screen pavilion to celestial capital peak. After a short break, we were all bursting to embrace the highest peak of the Yellow Mountain: Lotus Peak. Taking a generous stance as the most imposing peak, the lotus peak unvarnishedly reveals its grandeur and magnificence. You will not regret laboring up to the summit of the peak when you are thoroughly and speechlessly struck by the breathtaking panoramic view of the whole yellow mountain.  All of us are overawed by this lotus-like steep peak. After leaving behind lotus peak, we were treading our way heading for our final destination: Bright-Top Peak. All our hearts cannot help keeping throbbing by the radiant and charming scenic spots all beyond compare, such as Ladder on the clouds, Turtle Peak and etc. After we finally dashed to the bright-top peak, it is on the verge of getting dark. The bright-top peak, accompanied by the crowed tourists was all bathed in the flaming sunset. Our first day trip to Yellow Mountain folded its curtain in the spectacular sunglow.
